The Seismic Zoning Maps Need Updating

The need of seismic zoning maps deep modification is discussed. The modern seismic maps which are elements of Russian seismic building code are in some parts out of date. The seismic intensity maps are based on different physical intensity criteria. Earthquake ground motions parameters are used simultaneously with human fear estimations. Such criteria use could lead to different estimations of seismic intensities when the real effective intensities of earthquake are equal. Proposals, on seismic intensity criteria modernization and of seismic zoning maps modernization are presented.
