Introduction. An overview of methods for calculating piles with a strengthened base under the pile tip is presented, as well as the results of numerical experiments simulating tests of such piles.
Aim. The aim of the study is to develop new methods for calculating the bearing capacity of bored piles with the strengthening of the base under the tip.
Materials and methods. Existing calculation methods do not fully account for the strengthening of the base of the bored pile tip, thus highlighting the need for the development of new methods that can address this issue. Considering the strengthening can make a significant contribution to determining the bearing capacity of bored piles at the design stage.
Results. Numerical studies have defined the applicability limits of the base strengthening technology for the pile tip. Parameters influencing the performance of the pile with a strengthened base under the tip have been identified, and a method for its modeling has been developed.
Conclusions. It has been established that strengthening the base under the tip forms a soil or soil-cement element with enhanced strength and deformation characteristics, leading to reduced settlement and increased bearing capacity of the pile. The developed method for modeling the bearing capacity of bored piles with strengthened bases under the tip has proven effective and can be used for further research and practical applications.
