Introduction. The article examines and analyzes the main historically established methods used to reduce the effect of seismic effects on buildings and structures used in world practice.
Aim. The main purpose of this work is to classify the main, historically established methods used to reduce the seismic impact on buildings and structures. Scientific research methods used in the article: theoretical. Materials and methods. The research was conducted on a theoretical basis, as a result of which the authors proposed the main, historically established methods for reducing the effect of seismic effects on buildings and structures. The relevance and novelty of the article is due to the systematization of historically obtained and new data on seismic effects on buildings and structures and methods used to reduce the effect of this impact, as well as the use of modern literature sources by both Russian and foreign authors.
