The author continues the discussion about the enveloping of response spectra at the base mat. The goal is to perform most time-consuming analysis of the detailed model only once for a number of different soil foundations. In this paper the 1D three-mass system is considered. Evaluation of «enveloping» time-history is discussed as well as the accuracy of the basic principle — «the greater is the excitation spectrum, the greater is the response».
